The name of Amaurot is first used by thomas more who gave it to the capital city op Utopia. The word Amaurot means shadow and is therefore a metaphor to a place that does not exist, its not yet shaped but is full of potential and ambition.
As a studio we are in a constant quest of what it means to live in the 21st century. What are the new challenges and opportunity’s of these times and how can we work together to create a better world. For me these ambitious questions play a central role in the profession of architecture because as an architect you create the spatial condition of tomorrow. As a designer I am constantly looking for forms, shapes and materials that don’t try to superimpose themselves as an object in space but that try to be an integrated element in their surroundings. Contemporary architecture should be in constant dialog with his contextual vernacular narrative and look for a new harmony that is the result of a cultural process.
